These are all Kybella® chin results, the submental area, rather than off-label uses like underarms and bra rolls. Our Kybella® patients typically receive 1-3 vials per session, and 2-3 sessions in total.

As with all aesthetic treatments, results vary. We recommend planning for at least 2 sessions spaced 30 days apart, with the possibility of 3 or 4 sessions in total. Realistic expectations about the timeline are the single most important factor in patient satisfaction.

Kybella® alone gives fantastic results for many clients. Others make it part of a plan for several concerns in the lower face: some pair their injections with Ultherapy® or RF microneedling to reduce fat under the chin while also lifting and tightening the jowls, and others add jawline filler once fat reduction is complete, to further sculpt the chin and jaw.

Who Shouldn't Get Kybella?
Kybella® is a go-to treatment for many clients, but other non-surgical fat reduction options can suit certain face shapes better. Clients who need a "refine" rather than drastic fat reduction under the chin tend to have the best outcomes, while clients with a significant amount of under-chin fat are usually better candidates for CoolSculpting®.
Kybella® should also be used with caution in patients with bleeding abnormalities or who take antiplatelet or anticoagulant medication, as excessive bleeding or bruising can occur, and it can't be given where there's an active infection at the injection site. Your provider always assesses the area before injecting to make sure you're a safe candidate.
Is It Fat, or Sagging Skin?
Sometimes loose skin in the lower face and jowls looks like fat under the chin. This is usually age-related and becomes more noticeable in the mid-to-late 30s. If that's the case, your provider will tell you at your consultation and suggest non-surgical skin tightening instead, most often microneedling, Ultherapy® or TriLift.
"Bullfrog" Swelling: Should I Be Worried?
Kybella® "bullfrog" swelling is the severe swelling some patients get in the days right after their injections. It's temporary and typically peaks around day three. The area returns to baseline over the next two weeks or so, and keeps improving after that. The more fat in the area, the more swelling to expect, but it's usually milder with each session because there are fewer fat cells to destroy. We recommend booking when you have no special events coming up, ideally on a day you can go home and ice on and off for 48 hours.

What do Kybella results look like after one treatment?
Some clients see a visible change after one session, like the client above, but most need 2-3 sessions spaced about a month apart, and final results build over several months.
How many vials of Kybella will I need?
Our patients typically receive 1-3 vials per session, depending on how much fat there is under the chin.
How much does Kybella cost?
Kybella® is priced by the vial, so your cost depends on the number of vials per session and the number of sessions. Your provider plans and quotes your treatment at a consultation.
Can Kybella treat jowls, arms or the stomach?
Kybella® is FDA-approved for fat under the chin. It can be used off-label on other small fat deposits, like bra rolls and underarms; ask your provider whether it suits your area. All the photos above are chin results.
Is Kybella worth it?
Clients love their results as long as their expectations are realistic. Kybella® doesn't work overnight: final results emerge over several months, typically after a few rounds. It's ideal for clients who don't have enough chin fat for CoolSculpting® but don't want an invasive procedure like liposuction. There's a minor risk of side effects, but the procedure is very safe and relatively simple.
