SkinVive™ is the newest member of the Juvéderm® family, but unlike other fillers it isn't meant to change the shape or volume of the face. It's designed to improve skin tone and texture and add a "glow" to the cheeks. According to Allergan, which makes it, SkinVive™ does this by delivering hyaluronic acid (HA) just under the surface of the skin as microdroplets that absorb moisture, hydrating the skin from within. Final results show 30 days after injection and last up to six months.
That sounds good in theory, so we wanted to see it for ourselves. Below are real SkinVive™ before and after photos taken 25 days apart at our practice, and our honest review.

After 25 days, our model said she noticed a definite "inner glow" when she went makeup-free, and had received several recent compliments on her skin. Close-up photos of her cheeks confirmed noticeably smoother texture with fewer imperfections, and results were expected to improve over the next five days as they reached full effect at the one-month mark.
She says she would definitely recommend SkinVive™ to friends, "especially as we get into the dryer winter months when skin gets dull and dry."
What to Expect When You Get SkinVive
The treatment is about 15-20 small pricks on each cheek. The injections are very superficial, so they're much more comfortable than Botox® or deeper fillers. As with any injection, bruising is possible, but it's usually minor and gone within a week. Our model had very light bruising at the injection points that cleared in about three days.
Pairing SkinVive with Other Treatments
SkinVive™ is a fantastic complement to Botox®, filler and facials. Injections take about 10 minutes, so it works beautifully as an add-on. Many of our facial clients, especially those who love hydrating facials like the DiamondGlow™, get it as part of their skin-maintenance plan.
It's also an excellent final step in our acne scar treatment plans: after a series of microneedling and/or laser resurfacing sessions, SkinVive™ smooths out any remaining surface imperfections.
